“¡Hola, bienvenidos a bordo!” Since beginning to sail the world, this is the first time Logos Hope will visit a country where the majority of the inhabitants speak only Spanish. Besides having books in Spanish, this also implies a need for translators and Spanish-speaking crewmembers for events, tours, and just connecting with visitors from Gran Canaria on a personal level. Crewmember Yanina Toloza (Argentina) is excited about the visit because not being able to communicate well in English was a huge frustration for her when she first joined in February. She will be happy working at the Welcome Desk for one week making pages and answering questions for visitors in Spanish. But for Yanina it’s more than just a change of rhythm or language, “I know God has a purpose with this port and for each visitor that will come.”
