“We are getting up close and personal with reality inside the city,” said Jacques Classen (Namibia). Jacques was leading a team which stayed for three weeks in the district of Tondo in Manila. The team met some of the poorest of the city’s poor, people who didn’t have enough to eat, and shared their own stories with them. “These people need hope in their suffering,” added Jacques. “If we give them food it will only last one day.” The crewmembers spent time with street children and ran workshops in drama, music and dance for youth. They also helped the military run a medical camp. Here the team shared their stories with local people and saw them accept Christ. “I saw people hunger and thirst for real truth that transforms lives,” said Jacques.
