OM Ships STEP (Short Term Exposure Programme)
Short Term Exposure Programme (STEP) On Board
If you are interested in short-term work with OM Ships International, then take the next STEP! Usually around two to four months, this programme gives participants a taste of world-wide service in a multicultural environment.
Living in a community of 400 from around 60 different countries is both a rewarding experience and a challenge. You may be sharing a cabin with up to nine other people, and will have limited space and privacy. However, you will find great opportunities within this to build deep friendships, and, as well, to interact with local people in port communities, both informally and through organised programmes and teams.
You will work eight hours a day, five days a week in one of our work departments, such as the galley (kitchen), cleaning or book fair teams. While work clothes and training will be provided on board, you will need to bring along willing hands to serve wherever you are needed! Along with a five day work week, a sixth day is designated for ministry or training opportunities.
Our hope is that every person on board deepens their relationship with God, and learns how to apply and share their faith in a relevant way. Community activities, such as morning devotions, study groups and prayer times, are all designed with this goal in mind. As well, you will have access to training and resources such as teaching mp3s and DVDs.

The time in Florence will be both enriching and challenging. Ministry Center activities take place Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm. Lunch is provided each weekday, but you will be responsible for other meals. You will also participate in devotions, prayer times and other team events.
The Florence campus has two guest houses, well equipped with living areas, kitchen and laundry facilities, internet access, and bedrooms shared by guests of the same gender. Evenings and weekends are times off for participants, but there are often invitations from team members or others in the community for fellowship, meals, and activities.
